Bowls Bedfordshire were delighted to award two Award of Merits at the annual presentation.
The first award goes to one of Bedfordshire’s much appreciated and dedicated umpires - Sylvia Ranns. Sylvia has been a nationally accredited umpire for at least 15 years. As well as playing for both Bedford Borough and Wilstead, Sylvia has given her time freely to umpire events for both the men and ladies including umpiring Middleton Cup for the men and Johns Trophy matches for the ladies. Sylvia also regularly umpires indoor events. We feel that presenting our Award of Merit to Sylvia will show how much we value and appreciate the work done by our umpires, coaches and other non playing support.
The second award goes to a person who is well known to us all in Bedfordshire, having been a dedicated officer of the county for the last 14 years prior to stepping down as County Administrator and Men’s Secretary last year. Peter Lee – Peter has held these positions for 8 years and was County Treasurer for a number of years prior to that. Peter was also County President in 2012. Peter has been a member of Linslade for over 40 years and has now also taken on the role of Secretary of that club along with President of the Eastern Counties Bowling Association. Peter’s dedication and commitment to the administration of bowls in Bedfordshire over many years is duly recognised by his being awarded the Bedfordshire Award of Merit.
Well done and congratulations to you both.
