Extra End joy for Bedfordshire

BEDFORDSHIRE TRIUMPH IN BALCOMBE CLIFF HANGER
Successes in the Balcomb have been few and far between in recent times until today. In a dramatic finish and despite having been in front for most of the match, the teams were tied at 44 apiece after 21 Ends. Jim Allen’s rink took to the Green again to play out the extra end and what followed was pure drama. Despite the rink having combined well to build up a good head of bowls Jim found himself 1 shot down but with his final bowl he played a sublime shot with controlled weight to promote Ryan Stewart’s wood in for shot and match lie. The Leicestershire Skip failed to respond and Bedfordshire thus secured victory by 1 shot. A great performance by all concerned extends the County’s winning run to 4 games leading up to the first Middleton Cup game against Hertfordshire on Saturday, 30 May away at Shire Park BC.
