President Glyn is supporting ‘Embrace Child Victims of Crime’ as his charity this year.
As a recently retired Police Officer who finished his service in the Public Protection Unit, he has a vast experience of the awful things that can happen to, or are witnessed by children and the devastating effects this can have on them.
The charity started in 1983 as a result of children being left orphaned as a result of their parents losing their lives in the terrorist bombing in Warrington.
The charity supports victims from the UK and last year they supported over 1,600 victims under the age of 18 whose lives have been affected by serious crime, such as murder, rape, sexual assaults and serious assaults. The charity supports the child and their family in the most appropriate way according to their needs and can include counselling, family peer support and traditional “cheer up” awards of family breaks and days out. Merlin’s Magic Wand, owners of some of the UK’s most popular theme parks such as Legoland and Sealife Centres support the charity.
No cash awards are ever given, and referrals to the charity are made by Police Officers, victims hubs, sexual abuse referral centres and professionals who work with children and young people.
Please help Glyn support Bedfordshire’s young victims throughout the season when at matches. He will have badges (designed by himself) to sell and further merchandise and details about the charity.
Embrace Child Victims of Crime is a registered charity number 1043101.
