The summers glorious weather came to an end at a damp Linslade who were hosting the Men’s County finals yesterday (Sunday, 29th July)
The highlight of the day was the Singles Final where Steven Mead (Houghton Regis) won the title for the third time with in a nailbiting finish where at some stage both players were holding match shot before beating Chris Beard (Sandy Con) 21-19
Beard had already had two singles wins during the day with a 21-16 victory over Connor Hart (Shefford) and a another nerve jangler against Martin Dawkins (Houghton Regis) where he just came home 16-15.
The Luton Town Four of Jack Cawdell, Rollie Cawdell, Jim Allen and Tom Cawdell achieved a back to back success in their 22-10 win over clubmates Jonny Stokes, Pete Agnew, David Drost and Dave Whelan.
In the Triples the Ampthill players of Goff Holmes, Terry Lynch and Les Bunn conquered the wet conditions better than their Sandy Con opponents Graeme Howard, Grant Osborne and Roly Barker to achieve a 27-11 victory.
The Pairs saw Mick Gaylor and Dom Mussino of Sandy Town win well against Chris Kane and his last minute substitute Tony Peck by 28-14.
All the players will now be representing Bedfordshire in the national Championships in August at Leamington, where we are sure they will appreciate much support
Thanks must go to the Umpires, Spectators and particularly to the Linslade Club for working so hard in hosting the event.
