It is an honour to be your President and represent Bowls Bedfordshire for the 2024 Season. I look forward to meeting you on and off the green in the coming year.

I would like to thank my club, Maulden for nominating me as county President. It has been an ambition of mine to represent the county in this very important role for some years. I have been a member of Maulden for over 33 years. Maulden recently celebrated their Centenary and I’m so proud to be the first County President from Maulden in the history of the Bedfordshire County Bowling Association and Bowls Bedfordshire

I have worked with the Unified Committee and Men’s Executive for many years as Treasurer and zone representative since 2002. I hold the members of the Bowls Bedfordshire committees in the highest of regard for the work they do and their commitment to bowls. The work they do is largely unseen by bowlers, but so important for the smooth function of Bowls Bedfordshire and the enjoyment of the game by nearly 1,200 male bowlers in Bedfordshire.

I would like to congratulate Rollie Cawdell for his work as President in the 2023 Season, It has been a real pleasure to witness how you conducted yourself as President making it so enjoyable to play for the County.

My aim for 2024 is to carry out my duties as President to the highest standard and show respect for all the presidents that have gone before me and keep promoting Bowls Bedfordshire as a county that players love to play for. My Charity for 2024 is The East Beds Charity Cricket Shield which is a local organisation that supports a number smaller charities to support people in need throughout Bedfordshire.

The Charities supported are:

Gateway Club Biggleswade, Gateway Club St Neots, Macmillan Cancer Support, Sue Ryder Moggerhanger, Leonard Cheshire Ampthill, Hearts in Beds Cardiac Support, Ampthill Jigsaw Club, Headway Bedford, Amicus Trust, Sight Concern Bedfordshire, Kings Arms Project, Road Victims Trust, Serv Herts and Beds

All these charities will benefit from any donations collected. I thank you in advance for your generosity in these hard times.

Finally, I would like to wish all bowlers a healthy and successful season.

Best Wishes

Steve Jennings (Maulden BC)

Unfortunately, we have no President again this year so will be relying on our Past Presidents to step into the spotlight again and take on the role of Acting President at each of our County Friendly matches - thank you ladies for undertaking this role.  We had very good results in our friendly matches in 2023 so hopefully we can emulate this in 2024.  Our clubs voted to enter the proposed new Eastern Counties League and we are excited to introduce these matches into our programme.

Last year we held a very successful County Day in place of President's Day and we will be holding one again this year when hopefully we will have most clubs represented.  A chance to meet old and new friends.

No President's charity unfortunately as last year but we chose the very worthwhile charity, The Anthony Nolan Trust, and managed to raise a good amount as well as raising awareness of this exceedingly worthwhile charity.  We have chosen to again support this charity in 2024.

Our ladies enjoyed a very successful time at Leamington in 2023 and we hope we can have equal success in 2024.  So good luck to everyone in your competitions and we look forward to seeing you on the green.

Best wishes
